What is HYROX?

A new fitness challenge that is growing

For several years now, HYROX has been experiencing a real craze in the world of fitness.

This international event combines strength, endurance and cardio, attracting thousands of participants around the world, whether they are experienced athletes or beginners.

But what exactly is HYROX and why is it becoming so popular?

1. The HYROX concept: a race combining endurance and functional exercises

Hyrox was launched in Germany in 2017 and quickly established itself as the fastest-growing fitness sport in the world, thanks to its attractive, motivating and accessible concept.
Hyrox is a discipline that combines both running and functional exercises. This race takes the form of a competition, during which participants must run 1 km followed by a station with a functional exercise, all 8 times.
The race format is always the same, allowing you to set world records, have references and try to beat your own time in each race.


The 8 functional exercise stations are as follows, in this specific order:


- 1000m from SkiERG
- 50m of sled push
- 50m sled pull
- 80m of burpees
- 1000m rowing
- 200m from farmers carry
- 100m of lunges
- 100 wall balls


Between each of its stations, you must run 1km, for a total of 8km.
You start the race with a 1km run, and you finish the race with the last station (the legendary 100 wall balls).
The weights used on the different exercises are as follows, for the “Open” category which is the classic category, if you do not wish to compete in the “Pro” category (which have heavier weights):


- Sled push: 152kg
- Sled pull: 103kg
- KettleBells farmer carry: 24kg per hand
- Lunges: 20kg sandbag
- Wall Balls: 6kg

    The goal is to complete these 8 events and the 8 km race in the best possible time. Competitions can be individual or team, and HYROX offers different categories based on fitness level.

    2. Why does HYROX attract so many followers?

    The success of HYROX lies in several factors that make it a fitness event:

    • A format accessible to all : Whether you're an amateur or an experienced athlete, HYROX is designed to be adaptable to all levels. There are different weight classes and divisions for men, women, beginners, and experts. You can adjust your participation according to your physical condition.
